When I decided to create a new look for my dining room, I did not want to spend a lot of money changing the décor or the furniture. Since my dining table and dining chairs were made of solid wood, I choose to sand off the old finish and stain in order to paint them, rather than purchase an entirely new set. The whole process was a lot easier than I thought it would be and was even somewhat relaxing.
I choose to stain the newly sanded surfaces with a rich redwood color, rather than paint them. This shade went well with the upholstery on the chair seats which was an amber colored fabric. To further enhance the richer tones in the room, I purchased some new drapes which also had shades of amber and cream in them. The cream colored walls and bronze light fixtures combined to create a sophisticated looking room.
